Held at the county fairgrounds at 1301 Mentor Avenue in Painesville Township. Six jam packed days of family fun and entertainment. Truck and Tractor Pulls, Moto X Racing, Demo Derby, Horse Shows, Harness Racing, big time musical entertainment and a quarter mile long midway filled with food, games and rides. 30    FAMILY-FRIENDLY COOKOUT - Mentor, Ohio - Deekers Sidetracks (8455 Station St.). The Ghost Rider Foundation is holding a family-friendly, biker-friendly fundraiser complete with food, games, raffles, music, and prizes to raise money for PTSD awareness and education. Proceeds will help put on an educational seminar about PTSD for troops and their families before deployment. The USMC Color Guard and East Side Irish Association Pipe Band will present the colors at 5 p.m. Stand-up comedian Brian Stedronsky, a USMC veteran, and Mike Williams, a USO tour comedian, will perform from 7:30-8:30 p.m.; and local band Rasp will play until the end of the event at midnight. Bikers Against Child Abuse will be providing games and prizes for children. Great Labor Day weekend event for families!

10-11, 17-18, 24-25    HALLOWEEN HAYRIDES, Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Chardon Road, Kirtland; Family-oriented fun; rated PG-5 on the “scare meter.” Travel down a one-mile trail on a Halloween Hayride filled with family oriented thrills, chills and adventure at Lake Metroparks Farmpark. Along the way, expect to see the usual and unusual suspects which haunt the woods each year in October; returning this year is a ½ mile long haunted trail through Festival Field. This elaborate holiday exhibit, back by popular demand, drew more than 20,000 visitors in 2005 and 2006. Play along with the family on a life-sized game board as you pass through peppermint woods, cross over gumdrop mountains, travel through lollipop forest and wind your way down the colorful trail to home sweet home in this holiday display. Children will enjoy building a gingerbread man craft in the nature craft area! A $1.00 donation is requested for the craft. Remember shopping days in the Halle tradition with memorabilia from the famed Halle Bros. Co. Department Store from Downtown Cleveland. 5-23    COUNTRY LIGHTS, Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Chardon Road, Kirtland; A fun-filled celebration of the season featuring horse-drawn wagon rides through a winter wonderland trimmed with ‘hundreds of thousands’ of holiday lights and farm-themed displays. Festively decorated Christmas trees deck-the-halls of the Visitors Center, and the classroom is filled with the sights and sounds of model train layouts. Santa’s Workshop is a special treat for families – where they can watch their child make a wooden toy to take home. In the arena, meet some of Farmpark’s animals and enjoy shows and drills presented by the Lake Metroparks Volunteer Mounted Posse, the Light Horse Brigade or the Heel-n-Time drill team, a performance consisting of canine obedience training put to music. Division 5 of the NMRA’s Mid-Central Region will be displaying their H.O.-scale modular layout. Trains operating during hours of “Country Lights”. Lake Erie N-Scale Society (L.E.N.S.) to display their layout after Division 5 leaves (usually the week before Christmas).
